Call To Action Media Conference Held By The Memphis Branch NAACP: Speak Out About Violence On Blacks

Call To Action: Media Conference Held By The Memphis Branch NAACP Speak Out About Violence On Black Men And Women In This Country,

Monday, June 1, 2020 at Noon at Mt. Olive Cathedral CME Church located at 538 Dr. MLK, Jr. Avenue, Memphis, TN 38126

Please join the NAACP for a joint press conference on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Noon at Mt. Olive Cathedral CME Church located at 538 Dr. MLK, Jr. Avenue, Memphis, TN 38126 to speak out and on the violence against Black men and women in this country which has just been painfully and profoundly witnessed this past week with the murder and death of George Floyd.

From the time we as a people stepped foot on this land some 400 years ago, through the Civil War and Civil Rights Movement, and even through today, Black bodies and Black people have not been valued by all in this nation and in fact, have been killed at will without much recourse for the perpetrator of the crime.  We, as the oldest Civil Rights organization in this country, cannot and will not just sit back.  This is the time to act.

In support of those protesting, we will join CME Bishop Henry Williamson, who is organizing the call to action, COGIC Bishop Brandon Porter, the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the NBA, and several other grassroots organizations to call for change.

We will be masked and socially distanced.  Please feel free to join us on social media or in person.

We must engage in a three part strategy to begin change (“PPP”):

(1) Protest, (2) Policy and (3) Protect to make sure that we put an end to the abuse and savagery against Black people in this country.
