"Justin Kueber" Filmmaker, Voted Edmonton's Best

A special #shoutout and congratulations to an extraordinary filmmaker! His works speaks in volume!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Edmonton born director/writer/producer JUSTIN KUEBER is quickly emerging in the film industry and has had films screen all over the world and win numerous awards both locally and internationally. Justin began studying History and Film Studies at the University of Alberta. With the tools Justin learned at his post-secondary institution, he set out into the world of filmmaking forming Guerrilla Motion Pictures in 2013. Since then, Justin has had the opportunity to engage and collaborate with many filmmakers and artists all over Alberta, Canada, and the world.  In 2016 and 2018, he served as an adjudicator for the Edmonton Short Film Festival. And, in 2017, he was selected as one of the six filmmakers from BC and Alberta to receive the Telus STORYHIVE Banff Fellowship Program. In September 2018, Justin was awarded Best Local Filmmaker as part of Vue Weekly’s Best of Edmonton Awards.   Creative and deeply passionate about his work Justin has written, directed and produced several films, web series, music videos, and commercials during his career. Some of the most notable include: the Storyhive funded, I Phub You (2017) which has screened at over eight film festivals worldwide, winning Best Short film at the 2018 Central Alberta Film Festival and receiving a nomination for Best Short Screenplay at the 2018 Alberta Film & Television Awards.  And, his first feature film, On the Rocks (2016), which was selected to the Planet in Focus Film Festival Global Market in 2017 and was nominated for Best Original Score and Best Cinematography and won Best Actress Award (Carlee Ryski) at the 2017 Alberta Film & Television Awards.    Justin also directed an episode of Our House Media’s Airport Below Zerowhich premiered on the History Channel in September of 2016. The episode was about the Fort McMurray Wildfires.  He also worked on the Telus Optik and Gruvpix series, Against the Ropes.   Currently, Justin is working on several projects including: short films, Black and Blue and Prey. And feature length films: Chasing Summer and Bardown: The Billy Buchanan Story – all of which he has written and plans on directing and producing.  Justin's recent short film, Black and Blue, follows nine-year-old Katie, an energetic, troublemaker, who is forced to spend a day in the Nursing Home with her aging, blind Grandpa whose memory is slowly fading away. Grandpa Miles’ life has become a monotonous cycle and he is confined by his fear of the outside world. Through Katie’s interaction with her Grandpa it triggers significant memories of his past including: his love of jazz music, dancing, and his late-wife, Evelyn. And ultimately, it is through these memories Katie learns important lessons on growing up, disabilities, and equality.
